Josephine Menginie

Josephine R. Menginie (nee Vartuli), 90 years of age, of Broomall, PA, passed peacefully from this life the morning of December 5th after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and wonderful caregivers during the last years of her life. Josephine was born in Winooski, VT, but has been a Philadelphia area resident since 1947. She met her future husband, Joseph, in 1945 at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D.C., while she was working at the Pentagon. She and Joe were married in 1948 and settled in Upper Darby, PA where they raised their three children, Joan, Joseph and Kathleen. She also was a 20 year employee of JCPenney where she worked in fine jewelry at the Upper Darby store.



Josephine was the daughter of Joseph and Felicia (Sette) Vartuli and was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Menginie. She was the loving mother of Joan Doyle (William), Joseph Menginie and Kathleen Natale (Andrew) and the dear sister of Katherine Scott, Dominic (Lorraine), Frank and Ralph Vartuli; predeceased by Mary Mathon, Madeline Kalvoda and Mike Vartuli. She was the devoted grandmother of Amy Menginie, Alia Suthard (Thomas), Naomi Natale, Jen Doyle, Peter Menginie, Katie Doyle, Olivia Natale, Gabriella Natale, Joseph Natale, Mary Natale and Inna Natale and is also survived by her 2 great-grandchildren, Sophia and Matthew Suthard. She was the sister-in-law of Roe Maggetti (Carlo), Marie Menginie, Tony Menginie (Florence) and Catherine Mengini.



Josephine was a loving wife and wonderful mother and grandmother and a kind and generous person. She was loved by everyone whose lives she touched. There is a void in our heart today as we celebrate her life and pray for her soul.



Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Church, Lawrence Rd, Broomall, PA with a viewing in Church from 10:00-10:50 AM. Interment private.



In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to The Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106 would be appreciated.
