J. Russell Davison, III

November 30, 1982 — February 2, 2020

J. Russell Davison, III, 37, of Wayne, PA, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020 - in "Rusty style" - quietly, and with dignity, and surrounded by love. Rusty was born November 30, 1982, in Phoenixville, PA.
Rusty was the strong silent type. Not very flashy but he excelled at everything he did:
Not just a Boy Scout but an Eagle Scout.
Not just an accountant but a CPA.
Not just an employee but a vice president.
Not just a pitcher but one of the best.
And not just a good person but often times it was heard "one of the nicest people I have ever met" or even "THE nicest person I have ever met."

Rusty never complained and always had that unforgettable smile for everyone.
Rusty was a proud graduate of Devon Prep (2001) and Villanova University (2005), where he earned a BS in Accounting. After graduation Rusty worked as an auditor for O'Connell and Company and then for Daniel J. Keating Company as Vice President of Finance. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Rusty loved his work, and his co-workers were like family members.
He loved his family. He was generous to everyone, especially his nieces and nephews whom he showered with gifts. He loved his friends and the many adventures they had.

He was a huge baseball fan. He started his baseball career in Little League, played through high school, and then played American Legion ball, advancing to the state playoffs in 1999. Rusty served as an assistant baseball coach for many years at his alma mater, Devon Prep. He continued to play adult baseball, playing in two different leagues simultaneously as much as seven days a week. He was a baseball encyclopedia and knew all of the rules - if there was a question during a game they would consult Rusty.  He loved the Phillies and was a season ticket holder for over 20 years.

Rusty was also an avid golfer and, once again, an expert on the rules.
He loved to run. He was co-captain of his high school cross country team, ran marathons, half marathons and 5ks. He still ran a mile in a little over 6 minutes while undergoing treatment.

He loved to hike and camp and was a skilled fly fisherman. He loved wood working and fixing up his 100+ year old house.
Rusty was very patriotic and had a strong interest in history. He had been a member of the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War. He loved spending time in Valley Forge National Park and Gettysburg National Park.

He was a great cook who had his own vegetable and herb garden in his back yard. He loved gardening and taking care of his roses. He loved craft beers.
Rusty loved his Jeep and long drives with the top down while listening to Pearl Jam and Classic Rock bands, and he loved the Mini.
He loved his dog Tucker.
While Rusty had many loves, what will be missed most of all is his love for everyone and the generosity and compassion he showed to all.

Rusty is survived by his parents, John R. Davison, Jr. and Diane S. Davison (nee Stentaford), his sisters Nicole Godinho (Steve) and Tasha Carney (Matt), and his nieces and nephews Ellyson and Mia Godinho and Sawyer, Chase, and Tucker Carney.
