Julia Theresa Centofante, age 85, of Devon, Pennsylvania, passed away on
May 16, 2022. The youngest of ten children, Julia was born and raised in Campbell, Ohio and was the daughter of Gabor and Elizabeth Vargo.
Julia graduated from Campbell Memorial High School in 1955, graduated from the Youngstown Hospital Nursing Program as a Registered Nurse and took graduate courses at Ohio State University and was a school nurse for Campbell City Schools. She was a longtime member of St. Michael Parish and Tippecanoe Country Club in Canfield, Ohio. Her favorite passion was being a Master Gardener at Fellows Riverside Gardens.
Julia was a member of St. Katharine of Siena and St. Davids Golf Club in Wayne, Pennsylvania. Her cooking was praised by everyone, especially her Hungarian dishes and desserts, her specialty was Kolache. She enjoyed reading, research and interior design. Julia loved to travel to New York City, especially to dine at one of her favorite places, Cafe des Artistes. She also enjoyed shopping in Paris, the theatre in London, and listening to jazz in New Orleans. She was most happiest spending time at home surrounded by her family.
Julia is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Dr. Donald M. Centofante, her loving children Donald Centofante (Maureen), Deanna Arbet (Scott), Dale Centofante (Caroline) and Teressa Kowski (Jeff); grandson Jack Centofante, granddaughters Emily and Samantha Centofante, Morgan and Tessa Kowski and Rylee Centofante; and her sister, Irene Vince and brother, James J. Vargo.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Steve and Gabor Vargo; and sisters, Margaret Massullo, Elizabeth Stanko, Rose McCurdy, Goldie Vargo and Julia Vargo.
Services and interment are private.
