Julius Smith

September 23, 1926 — June 20, 2016

Julius "Jules" S. Smith, 89, of Morton passed away on June 20, 2016. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, Helen (nee Kotch), his sisters, Mary Bobrick & Bertha Rehnert and his brothers Joseph & Frank Smith. He leaves behind his loving daughter Kathleen Haight (James) and grandchildren Stephanie and Timothy Haight. Jules was a Sergeant in the Army, 604th Port Company. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippines Independence Ribbon and WWII Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 20, 1946. Jules was a member of The American Legion Post 0507, Norwood for 63 yrs. He was also proud of earning his Eagle Scout Badge awarded by the Boy Scouts of America. Jules loved his job as a project manager for Girard/Mellon Bank . He was also a member of the Philadelphia Building Superintendents Assoc. His favorite pastimes included gardening, fishing and golfing but what he enjoyed the most was spending time with his grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to the visitation on June 25, 2016 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 2130 Franklin Ave. Morton, PA 19070 followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
