June Eileen McQuilkin

June Eileen McQuilkin, passed away on February 12, 2025 at the age of 97. Beloved daughter to late Oscar Charles and Edna Marie (nee Hottinger) Jaeckel.

June is survived by her sons Scott Alan McQuilkin and Mark Edwin McQuilkin; Grandchildren Geoff, Jonathan, Brendan, Scottie, Katie, Luke, Sam, and Cory; Great-grandchildren, Cameron, Millie and June. She was predeceased by her husband Robert James McQuilkin Sr.; son, Robert James McQuilkin Jr.; and brother, George Oscar Jaeckel.

A graduate of Lawrence College in Appleton, Wisconsin, June majored in Business Economics and also studied French and English Literature. Her academic pursuits laid a strong foundation for a life enriched by knowledge and lifelong learning. During her career, she worked at the A.B. Dick Company in the forecasting department, and for the superintendent of the Austin State School for the Mentally Retarded for ten years. After retiring, she volunteered for many years at Seton Hospital in Austin, Texas.

June's greatest joy came from her role as a mother to her three boys. More than anything, providing love and support to her family was her most satisfying accomplishment. She was extremely proud of her sons, their wives, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially enjoyed being with her family during holidays and vacations.

An active and engaging individual, June excelled in a variety of sports. Her outstanding skills in tennis, golf, bowling, ping pong, volleyball and badminton marked her as a competitive and social spirit. Beyond athletics, June found joy in more leisurely pursuits including crossword puzzles, bridge, reading biographies, traveling, appreciating nature, volunteering and sharing a good glass of wine.

June McQuilkin leaves behind a legacy shaped by her love for family, cheerful outlook and joyful laugh. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her well, and remembered for the kindness and warmth she brought to the lives of others. Her memory will live forever in the hearts of family and close friends.

A memorial service to celebrate June’s life will be held in Austin, Texas at a place and date to be determined. Please contact Scott McQuilkin at smcquil339@outook.com if you would like to attend.
