Jay Power was born into our West coast farming family on April 30th, 1963, and left this earth with his East coast family as a banker on November 12, 2023, at the age of 60.
He possessed a sharp intellect that allowed him to complete his Burlington-Edison High School English papers during lunch instead of at home and still get good grades. He was a loyal, outgoing friend and was always ready for an outdoor adventure or party at Washington State University as he studied Agriculture and Economics. His Skagit Valley friends and Kappa Sigma fraternity brothers have a plethora of entertaining stories that either make you laugh out loud, touch your heart, or both.
After college he met Romi Walker while traveling in Europe and made the decision to marry and move from Burlington, WA to Philadelphia, PA in 1987.
He went from driving tractors and milking cows in Levis and a baseball hat to taking the train to his banking job wearing a business suit and carrying a briefcase.
He was proud of his children Justin, Connor, Corey, and Rylee. He spent countless hours at their tennis, baseball, basketball, and football games when they were kids then got to see them get married and start their own families (five grandchildren with two on the way).
Jay loved spending time with his family on both coasts, fishing and hunting, sports, building furniture, home remodeling, dogs, bourbon, cigars, and bonfires. He also had a wicked memory, read constantly, and stubbornly argued his point of view “until the cows came home” or until you walked away feeling drawn into his perspective due to his charisma, quick wit, charm, and big grin.
He reconnected with Monica Nhan and spent his time at home with Monica, working as a commercial loan officer in West Chester, PA and hanging out with his lab, Lizzy.
After ten years of living with Neuroendocrine Tumors, a pancreatic cancer, Jay was able to spend his final days surrounded by family and friends, including his devoted partner Monica, while receiving incredible care at University of Pennsylvania Medical Center.
