Karen Sheppard Naylor, age 60, of Havertown, PA was called home to be with the Lord on November 28, 2015 at Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Marie (McGonigle) Sheppard, her brother, John Sheppard, and her beloved son, Scott Michael Naylor.
She is survived by four sons who were her proudest accomplishment, Chip (Marci), Eric (Lauren), Thomas, Sean (Jenny Doyle); two grandsons who were her greatest joy, Jude and Caleb; and her sister and cherished friend, Barbara (Patrick) Gallagher.
Karen was a graduate of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Cardinal O'Hara High School. She received a Bachelor's degree from West Chester University, a Master's degree from Villanova University, a Ph.D. (ABD) from Penn State University, and a Non-Profit Management and Development Certificate from the University of Pennsylvania. University Park.
She was the current President of the Board of Directors of the Ronald McDonald House of Danville, of which she had been a Board Member since 2010. She also volunteered her time for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, the Literacy Center of West Philadelphia, Penn's Abramson Cancer Center, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the Kimmel Center for the Arts, and the Lupus Foundation. Karen will be remembered for her dedication to family, her love of teaching, her kind heart, and her generous spirit.
Friends and family are invited to visit between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM Tuesday, December 1, 2015 The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073 and 9:30 AM and 10:20 AM Wednesday December. 2, 2015 at Annunciation BVM Church, 401 Brookline Blvd., Havertown, PA 19083 followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, PA.
