Katherine Mary "Kathy" Barr (nee Horn), age 78, of Lititz, PA, passed away on April 10, 2024.
Born in Yeadon, PA, Kathy was the daughter of the late Joseph G. and Mary R. (nee McQuaide) Horn. She was a graduate of Archbishop Prendergast High School (1963) and Keystone Secretarial School where she received her Medical Secretary associate degree. Kathy worked as a Secretary for Wyeth Laboratories and as the lead Secretary at the Exton Square Mall Management Office. She then worked in the Radiology Scheduling Department at Chester County Hospital until her retirement in 2012.
Kathy was a Girl Scout Troop Leader and a member of The Villages at Hillview's Red Hat Society. All picnics and celebrations included one of Kathy’s homemade dishes or desserts, especially deviled eggs, lasagna and chocolate chip cookies. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, needlepoint, pottery, and watching HGTV. Kathy was very creative and had a knack for completing home improvement projects as well as decorating her home for every holiday and gathering. She was known for her gentle personality, loving heart, and contagious smile. Kathy was devoted to her family and would spend hours at Hallmark picking out the perfect card to be hand delivered with birthday balloons. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and was always available to offer comforting hugs and endless giggles while making stuffed animals come to life.
Kathy was the beloved wife of the late John L. Barr, Jr.; devoted mother of Kevin L. Barr and Jennifer L. Droter (Jimmy); sweetest Gammy of Leah, Lizzie, and Anna Droter; loving sister of Bonnie Behrenhauser, her twin, and Patricia Metzger (Lou).
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at St. Philomena Church, 41 E. Baltimore Avenue, Lansdowne, PA 19050. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception will be held following interment at the Springfield Country Club, 400 West Sproul Road, Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating a Teddy Bear, new with tags, and bring it with you to the Funeral Mass. Kathy’s granddaughters will make sure every bear finds its way into the arms of as many dementia care residents as possible.
