Kathleen Rose "Kathy" Elia

Kathleen Rose “Kathy” Elia, age 70, of Broomall, PA, passed away on December 11, 2023.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (nee Hannan) Donohue.

Kathy was a graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School.  She was a very dedicated employee and hard worker who was employed with Wawa in Newtown Square for 21+ years and Dollar Tree in Broomall for the past 12 years.

Kathy’s favorite pastimes were hanging out with her family and watching her favorite TV shows, game shows, and movies.  She especially loved to laugh with others and enjoyed good company and good food.

Kathy was loved by all who knew her, and was known for her kindness, humility, patience, and gentleness.  She was a selfless and kind-hearted person, with a gracious smile, a friendly face, with a contagious laugh!  Her greatest joy was raising her 7 children and watching her grandchildren grow. 

Kathy was the beloved wife for 50 years to Michael J. Elia; the loving mother of Michael Elia (Rebecca), Teresa Renzi, Diane Dydak (Brian), Rita Elia, Lisa Elia, Kathleen Elia, and Joseph Elia.  She was the devoted and loving grandmother of her precious 14 grandchildren, Dylan, Odelia, Giana, Isabella, Dominic, Madelyn, Jimmy, Julianna, Charlotte, Ariella, Michael, Aria, Anthony, and Macklin.  Kathy is also survived by her dear siblings, Maureen “Rene” Streit, Thomas Donohue, Debbie Donohue, and Rose Kennedy, and preceded in death by her dear sister, Carol Ann Davis.  Her family loved her very much and will miss her tremendously.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing, Wednesday evening, December 20, 2023, 7:00 to 9:00 PM  and Thursday morning, December 21, 2023, 9:30 to 10:30 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA  19073, 610-353-6300, followed by her Funeral Mass, 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Church, 220 Lawrence Road, Broomall, PA  19008. Interment SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
