Kathleen Connor Miller, 87, of West Chester, passed away on January 16, 2023.
She is predeceased by her husband Richard and grandson Christian.
Kathleen is survived by her children Colleen (Ken) Wortley, Rich (Lynne), Fran (Julie), John (Jamie), Kath (Charlotte), Maureen (Bob) McGonagle, and Marleen (Jim) Lynch, and over 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kathleen was born and raised in Philadelphia where she met life-long “sorority” friends in grade school. After marrying her high school sweetheart Richard in 1957 and starting a family, they moved to Baltimore and added another child to the brood. In 1968, they moved to West Chester, where the family continued to grow, rounding it out with seven children.
Kathleen and Richard were firmly settled in West Chester, becoming active in the Sts. Simon and Jude community and developing strong bonds with their West Goshen neighbors. Kathleen’s calling in life was being a mother. She was a fixture at the kids’ sporting events and school performances, regularly made Halloween and Fourth of July costumes from scratch, and was the “fixer” of the unexpected curveball or at least offering a strong, supporting shoulder to cry on. Kathleen’s life was deeply enriched by her grandchildren. For them, she was a caregiver when they were sick (or had a sick parent), a playmate who made them laugh, a supporter who cheered them on, and a friend who adored them.
Kathleen was the consummate host, always making room for one more at the table and making everyone feel welcomed. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at the Jersey shore where they vacationed for years. She had a quick smile and loved to laugh, even at herself. Her passing has left a deep void in her family’s life, but the strength, love, and support she showed them will live on.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 1325 Boot Road, West Chester, 9:30- 11:00 AM Friday January 20, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.
