Lamont Clark

June 26, 1946 — October 12, 2016

Lamont J. Clark, age 70, of Upper Darby, PA, formerly of West Philadelphia, passed away on October 12, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Julius Pleasant and Gloria Clark. Lamont was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System. He spent several years as an Engineer for the Sarah Allen Nursing Home in Philadelphia, a Field Operations Manager for Advanced Environmental Solutions, Inc, and a Chef at Haverford College. He retired in 2008.

Lamont was a loving and caring person, and devoted family man. He worked hard at his craft but always made sure his wife had her uniform and coffee ready, letting her know everyday how much he loved her. He made sure his son was up for school, food in his belly, and clean clothes on his back. He taught and showed his son how to be a man, with the hopes that his son would be better than he. Lamont was notorious for his acts of generosity that touched so many hearts whether you were family, a neighbor, or even a stranger on the street. Such prestige is rarely seen anymore these days.

Lamont enjoyed traveling and spending time with his wife, & playing pickup basketball with his brother Julius. He loved music, he loved to barbecue (even though he always found a way to burn the food), he loved to eat and break bread with anyone, and he loved to talk and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Those that saw Lamont in his later days in the neighborhood knew you could always find Lamont on his daily walks, tending to the yard with his bandana on and his music blasting, or sitting up on his porch with a watchful eye always looking to say Hello.

Lamont is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Clark (nee Casalda), his loving son, Ian Clark, his caring daughter-in-law, Bunny Clark and his faithful siblings Yvonne McManus, Rosalind Pleasant-Durbin, Julius Clark and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and a plethora of friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Friday, October 21, 2016 9:00-11:00 AM Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 5732 Race Street, Philadelphia, PA and to his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment is private.
