Laurice A. Albed, 91, of Berwyn, PA and Cape May, PA , formerly of Broomall, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025 after a brief illness. Born in Philadelphia, she was the beloved daughter of Samuel and Najla (nee Birbarah).
Laurice spent her youth between Philadelphia and Cape May, where her parents owned businesses in both locations. She was a graduate of Lower Merion High School and University of Delaware where she majored in early childhood education. For 13 years she devoted herself to teaching elementary school in the Haverford School District while earning a Master’s Degree in education. She continued her work in academia as a member of the Villanova University faculty where she inspired countless students before joining her family at Albed Rug Company.
Always impeccably dressed, Laurice took much pride in decorating her homes as well as entertaining friends and family. She loved international travel and fine dining wherever she visited.
Outside the realms of academia and business, Laurice found immense happiness at her family home in Cape May where she spent every summer. She had a vast knowledge of the town’s rich history and enjoyed telling stories of her youth and a bye-gone era.
Laurice was a loving Aunt to Renee, Raymond, Jr. (Nancy) and Michelle and a proud great-aunt to Thomas.
Family and friends are invited to Laurice’s Graveside Service 10:30am on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at West Laurel Hill Cemetery and to her Prayer Service of Remembrance on Sunday February 23, 2025 at 11:00am, St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 8210 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082.
