Lawrence Riviello, Sr.

Lawrence R. Riviello Sr., 88, of Springfield, PA, formerly of Upper Darby, passed away on June 10, 2016. Lawrence graduated from Upper Darby High School and continued his education at Temple University. He was a long time member and eventual President of The National Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association (HBPA). His passion was horses-he owned, cared for and bred a group of at least 22 thoroughbreds. He was also involved in the food industry since his early teens. Lawrence was a successful business entrepreneur who was the proud owner of Larry's Luncheonette in Upper Darby and owned/operated the Cafeteria at The Bazaar of All Nations. He was also owner of Rite Buy Beer Corporation in Clifton Heights. Lawrence was the beloved husband of the late Betty Mae Riviello (nee Kane) and loving father of Victoria Clark, Darlene Lipka (William J.), Cheryl Lydon, and Lawrence R. Riviello Jr. (Gina). He was also survived by 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, but was predeceased by his brother Peter Riviello (Eleanor), and his parents Marcellino and Angelina Riviello (nee D'Angola). Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 9:00-10:30 AM Friday, June 17, 2016 at Knoetgen-Donohue Funeral Home, 746 Kedron Avenue, Morton, PA 19070, 610-544-0600 followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 136 Saxer Avenue, Springfield, PA 19064. Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.
