LCDR. Marshall

John F. Marshall, 96, of Berwyn, PA, passed away on February 26, 2019.

John was born September 21st 1922 in Norfolk Virginia.

He attended both elementary and high school in Norfolk and as one might expect he was exposed to the Navy way of life.

WWII was in full bloom and he joined the Navy.

While in Halford Iceland as a Seaman 1st class, he was on the heavy cruiser USS Wichata. Upon recommendation of his division officer John, took the entrance exam to the US naval academy and was accepted.

He graduated the academy, class of 1947.

Due to the war the 1947 class graduated in 1946.

During his tenure in the Navy, he served on many ships including the USS Saufley and USS Wasp.

At the end of the war he was part of the occupational force and was stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany. Following the war he was stationed the Philadelphia Navy Yard and the Pentagon, retiring in 1964 and settling in Wynnewood, PA.

In retirement he worked for Boeing and Conrail.

John spent the last 10 years traveling to AKC dog agility trials, where he was known for his enthusiasm, friendly nature, and working hard as volunteer.

His clowning nature left all wondering what he would do next.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Beatrice Marshall and a daughter, Pamela Marshall.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Marshall, with whom he lived, son John Marshall Jr., and daughter Sharon Marshall.

He is also survived by his fur children, Trouble, TS, Hey,
