Leroy Yancey, 93, of Philadelphia, PA passed away on September 1, 2016.
Born in 1923 in Plymouth, VA, he was the beloved son of the late Albert Lee and Elizabeth Yancey. Serving honorably in the US Army during WWII, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Service Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon.
In addition to his many years as a mail carrier with the U.S Postal Service, Leroy was also a bus driver for the Philadelphia School District.
His hobbies included fishing, cooking with his own garden vegetables, and was well known for his artistic talent. His beautiful paintings can be found displayed online at octobergallery.com.
Leroy was the beloved husband of the late Mattie (nee Mitchell); the loving father of Lynda, Byron, and Darryl; and dearest brother of Lucile Hopson age 95,
as well as the late Herbert, Taylor, Gene and Raymond. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchild.
