Mrs. Linda Rice Harkins., age 83, of Exton, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 2nd surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Harkins was a 1958 graduate of Marple Newtown where she met the love of her life, Dr. Charles Harkins, Jr., when she was a freshman and he a senior.
Mrs. Harkins attended Drexel University where she excelled in athletics, lettering in field hockey, basketball and lacrosse. She is memorialized in Drexel University Athletics Hall of Fame with the 1961 undefeated and untied Drexel field hockey team. She earned a master’s at Villanova University. Mrs. Harkins was an English teacher in the Coatesville Area School District for over 20 years, where she was recognized for her dedication to her students. In her final year of teaching, the high school yearbook was dedicated to her.
Mrs. Harkins is survived by her sister, Gail Rice Williamson and her children’s families, daughter, Wendy, her husband, Evan, and their four children, Graham, Caroline, Clark and Stuart, and son, Sean, his wife, Jennifer, and their two children, Madeline and Teagan
