Lois W. Krall, age 75, of Berwyn, PA, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at home peacefully surrounded by her loving family after courageously and gracefully facing the challenges of cancer. She was the beloved wife of George F. Krall, Jr. for 53 blessed years, devoted mother of George W. Krall, Cynthia Krall Dionne and Elizabeth O. Krall and cherished Nana to Lucie and Stephen Dionne.
Born and raised in Abington, PA, daughter of Bertha O. and John E. Williamson, her education and early professional years were spent in nursing and medical administration. In 1959, she traveled to Japan and married George who was proudly serving as an Army Lieutenant. While living in Japan she developed a fondness for the culture and embraced ower arranging, charcoal drawing and teaching English. Upon returning stateside, she worked in public relations at the University of Pennsylvania while her husband attended the Wharton Graduate School of Business. She stridently supported his entrepreneurial business ventures which saw them maintain residences in Haverford, PA and Princeton, NJ as well as Chapel Hill, NC.
As a compassionate mother and grandmother, Lois' family was always her greatest joy. She was President of the Agnes Irwin School Parents' Council, active in The Haverford School Parents' Association, a Parent Director at Trinity College and Yale University, and a supporter of the Upland Country Day School. For over forty years, she attended the Philadelphia Orchestra's Friday afternoon concert series and was a member of the Acorn Club, Merion Cricket Club, and Governors Club in NC.
In 2000, Lois and George retired to Chester County whose pastoral countryside they had always admired. Recent years included memorable travel experiences highlighted by a trip to The Holy Land and an anniversary trip to Vienna, Austria where she and George enjoyed a New Year's Eve waltz together. She had a tender compassion for all things living and spent joyous hours observing birds and other wildlife on their small farm. She was an avid reader, liked puzzles, loved orchids and enjoyed collecting shells from long walks on the beach.
She was fortunate to have her children and grandchildren close by and to share many special moments in their lives. Her warm smile and beautiful spirit will live on with her family and the many friends whose lives she touched. To know her was to love her.
In celebration of her life, a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at St. David's Episcopal Church, 763 South Valley Forge Road, Wayne, PA 19087.
