Lorraine B. Jones

Lorraine B. Jones, (née Bell), age 89, long time resident of Wallingford PA, and most recently of Maris Grove, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Bessie (née Hodnett) Bell.

Lorraine graduated from Bartram High School with honors.  Soon after high school Bob and Lorraine were married.  She was employed with ARCO for a time but took time off from working to stay home with their three children.  Lorraine went back to work when the children were grown where she advanced to become an Executive Secretary at Wyeth Pharmaceutical.

Lorraine and Bob valued, family, faith, and education, beliefs they passed down through their children.  Lorraine was known for her cakes, but her favorite hobby by far was reading.  She was never without something to read.  Lorraine was very active at her church, Wallingford Presbyterian.  She enjoyed summers at their Ocean City, NJ shore home and especially loved traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, and the Caribbean during her retirement years.

Words her family used to describe Lorraine include grateful, elegant, modest, gracious, content, loving, generous, well read, cheerful, thoughtful, and helpful.

Lorraine was the beloved wife of the late Robert C. “Bob” Jones of over 62 years;  the loving mother of Lauralyn Jones, Robert Jones (Rosemarie), and Lisa Jones Volkman (Kip); the devoted grandmother of Robert Jones, Nicholas Jones, Kathryn Jones, Lindsey Volkman, Elise Volkman; and cherished great-grandmother of Caden Thomas Jones, Robert Leo Jones, Makenzie O’Connell, Khyleigh O’Connell, and Delainey O’Connell. Lorraine is predeceased by her siblings, O’Neill Bell, Roy Bell, Bill Bell, Norman Bell, and Dora New.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation, Monday, July 11, 2022, 10 – 11 AM at Wallingford Presbyterian Church, 110 E. Brookhaven Road, Wallingford, PA  19086, followed by Funeral Service at 11 AM.   Interment private.
