Lorraine M. Jones

Lorraine M. (nee O’Neill) Jones, 68, of Broomall, PA, passed away on February 10th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Bryn Mawr, PA to the late James and Nora (nee Walls) O’Neill.

Lorraine was unanimously recognized as an innately kind and caring woman, always giving her time and compassion to others. As a Registered Nurse, she always said nursing was more than a career but a calling and truly embodied the art of nursing. Lorraine dedicated over 25 years of service at Bryn Mawr Hospital before going on to work in home health, skilled nursing, and finally staff development at the Quadrangle for over 15 years. She then retired and transitioned her energy to caring for her two beloved grandchildren.

Lorraine was active parishioner of St. Thomas of Villanova parish where she took her late mother to mass every Sunday. Through the parish, she supported a Philadelphia Women’s Shelter and the Interfaith Hospitality Network among many other stewardship programs. Lorraine was also an engaged member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Delaware County through which they supported numerous local charitable organizations.

When Lorraine was not occupied by caring her grandchildren, she was off traveling with her husband and family. She loved her time in the sun either by the pool or on the beach. At a disco, block party, wedding or even in the kitchen, Lorraine was most alive while dancing. The holiday season also brought her great joy as she sung carols, strung endless lights, and searched for the perfect Christmas tree. As one of the strongest women we ever knew, she experienced severe illness many times in her life yet continuously fulfilled her motto “The problem before you is never greater than the power behind you.”

Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 44 years Robert S. Jones, Jr.; her daughters Alicia Fitzmire (Robert) and Allison Eno-Jones (Jessi); her adored grandchildren Isla Rose, Robert, III, and Baby Eno-Jones due in April; she was also the loving sister of James “Chooch” O’Neill (Jackie), Francine Hamilton (Ray), and Richard O’Neill. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing, Thursday evening, February 16, 2023, 6 – 8 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, 610-353-6300, and Friday, February 17, 2023, 9:30 – 10:30 AM at St. Thomas of Villanova Main Campus, 800 E. Lancaster Avenue, Villanova, PA 19085, followed by her Funeral Mass, 10:30 AM. Interment SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
