Louis Camilli

Louis N. Camilli ("Pop-Pop"), of Ocean City, NJ passed away on June 19, 2019.
He was the loving father of Barbara Boyle (Joseph), Michael Camilli (Anne); devoted grandfather of Greg Boyle, Jon Boyle, Jessica Amoroso, Kristin Ternowyj and Michael Camilli; great-grandfather of Jimmy Boyle, Katie Boyle, Sophia Amoroso, Lilyanna Amoroso, Aurora Amoroso, Luke Ternowyj and Garrett Ternowyj.
He was predeceased in November 2003 by his wife, Jean Camilli (nee Raffaele), with whom he shared 57 years of marriage and by four brothers.
Born in south Philadelphia in 1919, he was a graduate of Overbrook High School and worked as a tool and die machinist.
Lou served honorably in the US Marine Corps from 1943-1946. He fought with the 5th Marine Division on Iwo Jima in February 1945, and was on Iwo Jima when the flag was raised on Mount Suribachi on February 23rd, 1945. He was a member of the Marine Corps league in Delaware County, PA and said he would always remember his fallen brothers.
He was an avid golfer and was a member of Cobbs Creek Golf Club.
He golfed almost daily after he retired in 1983 until late in May 2019.
He was also a longtime member of Ss. Simon & Jude Parish (Westtown).
Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday, June 25, 2019 and 9:30-10:30 AM Wednesday at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 610-431-9000 followed by his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Ct., West Chester, PA. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
