Louis F. Gentry, 92, of Coatesville, PA, passed away on February 8, 2023.
Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1930, he was the son of the late Lewis and Gertrude (nee Doud) Gentry. Louis was a proud graduate of Roman Catholic High School. He played tennis and soccer in his youth. Louis served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War and earned a Purple Heart. He worked as a Civil Draftsman and retired at age 65.
Louis was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. He was quiet, a man of few words. Louis enjoyed doing the Inquirer crossword puzzle and listening to Frank Sinatra He loved to eat, especially Polish dishes. He was very good working with his hands and was known as a weekend mechanic. He liked to spend time with his family down the shore, where he rode his bicycle everywhere.
Louis was the beloved husband of the late Joan (née Kryjer) Gentry, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Sr. Barbara Jude Gentry IHM, Louis C. Gentry (Kathleen), Diane Weaver (Richard) and the late Joanne T. Gentry; dear brother of Margaret Manocchio, Marie Liebsch, Theresa Fitzpatrick, and the late Gertrude McDevitt; caring grandfather of Bridget, Monica, Allison, Maureen, Natalie, Stephen, and Kevin and great-grandfather of Greyson, Nathaniel, McKenna, Anna, Sophia, and Cora.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 10:30-11:30 AM Saturday, February 18, 2023 at SS Simon & Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA followed by his Funeral Mass 11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of IHM at Camilla Hall, 100 Maxis Drive, Malvern, PA 19355.
