Louise Pino, 80, of West Chester (originally from Allentown, PA) died unexpectedly on July 9, 2014. She was born on December 5, 1933 to the late Onetta and the late Stephen Schnabel.
Louise was an unselfishly devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. For a short while she owned a dress shop in South Philadelphia and did accounting work at home for her husband's family's business (10th St. Lumber). She attended William Allen High School and went to Philadelphia Community College.
An outstanding sportswoman, she was a swimmer, played softball, tennis, basketball, and was a life guard throughout high school. After she married and moved to Philadelphia, Louise's devotion to her husband and family was paramount. She was very proud of her German heritage and, though not Italian herself, she learned to cook many amazing Italian dishes to please her family. Louise was gratified to enjoy summers at the Jersey Shore with family. She, and her husband Joe, travelled the world together. She nurtured family and tradition at every opportunity.
Louise was inspired to "give back" to those around her. A Catholic, she became a Eucharistic Minister to honor her mother. In 1978, she became a charter member of The Lionesss organization of South Philadelphia, which supports the blind and physically challenged. She held many Board positions and founded The Marple-Newtown Lioness Club and co-founded the Ventnor-Margate, NJ Lioness Club. She was awarded the "Melvin Jones Award", the highest honor in Lionism, by her peers. Louise also served on the Board of the Edith R. Rudolphy Residence for the Blind in Philadelphia.
Louise, and her husband Joe, moved to from Philadelphia to Broomall and then in later years to West Chester. She loved the Phillies, Bingo on Tuesdays, to cook, enjoy a Chivas and goat cheese at 4PM with her husband, and spend time with her children, grandchildren and especially be Oma to her great-grandson, Tyler.
Louise was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Pino; loving mother of Rosemarie Marovich (Michael), Joseph S. Pino (Gina), Jeffrey A. Pino (fiancé Caroline), and Stephen A. Pino. Also survived by her grandchildren, Lindsey Rauch (Andrew), Veronica Watkins, Alexis Pino, Stephen Pino, Amber Pino, Nicole Louise Pino, and great-grandson, Tyler Matthew Rauch. Predeceased by grandson Anthony Pino.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing 9:30 AM Monday, July 14, 2014 and to her Funeral Mass 10:30 AM at St. Maximillian Kolbe Church, 15 E. Pleasant Grove Rd, West Chester, PA.
