Luella Ann Stoetzel

Luella Ann Stoetzel (nee Bruder), 92, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Arbor Terrace Willistown Assisted Living. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Edward Stoetzel, with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 13, 2013 prior to his death.  

 

 Born December 17, 1929 in Detroit, MI, she was a daughter of the late Louis C. and Catherine A. (nee Peters) Bruder.  She was a 1947 graduate of St. Charles Borromeo High School in Detroit, where she pursued general education with a focus in business studies.  Through the early years of her marriage, she was an in-home party plan demonstrator for a number of companies, including Bee Line, Copper Craft, Stanley Home Products and most notably Playhouse Toys, where she excelled in both individual and group sales and won numerous awards and vacation trips around the world.  She also had a long and distinguished career as a legal secretary at several of the most prestigious law firms in Washington, DC.  

 

Luella was a wonderful cook and gracious hostess, leaving her family and friends with many cherished memories of  gatherings, both large and small, that will forever bless them.  She especially loved making and decorating rolled sugar cookies with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and always made sure they went home with plenty of their colorful and tasty creations.  She was a devout Catholic and active member of  the Council of Catholic Women at St. James Catholic Church in Conway, SC where she and her husband were members for 22 years in their retirement.  

 

She was the loving mother of the late Kathryn Kelly, Karen Randel (wife of Edward), Linda Al-Jaradat (wife of Khaled), Thomas A. Stoetzel (husband of Linda), Edward Stoetzel (husband of Ericca), and Laura Hlavaty (wife of John); adoring grandmother of 9 and great-grandmother of 11; and dear sister of Joyce Wing. In addition to her husband and eldest daughter, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Louis Bruder and Elaine Chalmers. 

 

Visitation will take place from 10 to 10:30 AM, Monday, May 23, 2022 at St Charles Borromeo Church, 1491 Baldwin St, Detroit, MI 48214, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Detroit, MI. 

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
