Luke “Big Luke” Cannon, age 84, of West Chester, PA, passed away on June 14, 2024.
Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1939, Luke was the son of the late Gladys (nee Deutenberg) and Robert Frey. He was a 1956 graduate of St.Thomas More High School. From 1956-59, Luke was a paratrooper in the US Army,and while stationed in Hawaii he served in the Military Police before being honorably discharged. Luke was the owner and operator of Cannon & Cannon, Inc., West Chester, PA for 15 years as well as being a welder and crane operator. He was a member of IUOE Local 542 for 50 years. Luke donated his crane services to many local township fire companies and police departments over the years. His cranes moved the Liberty Bell and the Rocky statue. He loved and lived for his grandkids.
Luke was the husband of Sally R. (nee Walters) Cannon; father of Jonathan Cannon (Kathryn), Buffē Savant (Jim), and Luke Cannon, IV (Jenny); grandfather of Quin Savant (Kaitlyn), Olivia Savant , Colette Sowell (Lannom), and Kirth Cannon. Luke is survived by his sisters Mary Hamilton and Judy Kozlowski (David), Luke was preceded in death by his brother Jimmy Cannon, and sister Patsy Smith ( Tom) Luke is survived by many nieces and nephews many of whom were his favorites (you know who you are).
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 2:00-4:00 PM Saturday, June 29, 2024 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, 610-431-9000, followed by his Funeral Service at 4:00 PM. Interment private.
