Lynda J. DiGioia (née Meier)
Lynda, beloved wife, mother, sister, and Gram, 70, of Newtown Square passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Lynda was born on April 3rd, 1954, to Francis and Jean Meier (née Buckley). She spent her childhood in Newtown Square and attended Alice Grim and Marple Newtown Junior and Senior High School.
In early years, she loved being a Brownie and spending time with her Young Life group, often reminiscing about her trips to Ireland and Italy. Her summers spent in Stone Harbor and Sea Isle were some of her dearest memories, where she worked at Hersh's Bowling Alley and Hoy's 5 & 10 in Stone Harbor. While home, Lynda worked in Mackey's Pharmacy luncheonette and as an electronic bookkeeper at Auto Tell services, to eventually spend her days as a homemaker.
She loved to crochet and cook, often sharing meals with family close by, and was one to always have an extra plate at the table for anyone who entered her life. She often claimed each meal as "the best she's ever had". Yearly Easter trips to visit her parents in Maple Leaf Estates in Florida make the list of best times had, and Marple Swim Club pool parties can thank her for helping with many amazing events. A lover of nature, her many dear pets, her ‘72 burnt orange Chevelle, talking movies with her grandchildren, and most of all, time spent with her family.
Lynda is survived by her husband and high school sweetheart of 48 years Thomas, as well as her children Laura Lynch (John) and their children JT, Connor, Claudia, son Tommy (Jen) and their child Dominic and Baby DiGioia due in the fall, daughter Katie Curry (Greg) and their children Gemma, Gioia, and Grady, and son Kevin (Emily) and their daughter Phoebe. Lynda is also survived by her sisters Shirlee Chaplin (John), Nancy Klopp (late husband Dan), and Ruth Bergey (late husband Ken) and many nieces and nephews. Lynda was predeceased by her parents Francis and Jean, brother Bud and Bud’s wife Lynn.
A long battle with various illnesses has now ended in a peaceful, loving goodbye, telling stories, and laughing with family, just as she would have wanted. Rest in peace Lynda, Mom, Gram, you will forever remain in our hearts.
