Lynn Allison Ramsey, dear sister, Auntie, Godmother, and friend, died peacefully on June 30, 2022. Born in Philadelphia on July 31, 1944, she was the beloved daughter of the late Mr. Charles E. and Mrs. Berry W. Ramsey. Lynn, raised in Strafford Village, PA. and graduated from the Conestoga High School class of 1962. She attended Grove City College for two years before continuing her education at the Institute of European Studies in Vienna and graduating from Boston University in 1967. After college, Lynn moved to New York City, where she began her career as a magazine editor and author. Lynn went on to the world of public relations representing jewelry and diamonds for the remainder of her career. She was a beautiful and charming woman who excelled in business and shone at parties, but never took herself too seriously. In 1995, Lynn became president and CEO of the Jewelry Information Center and, with many personal and television appearances, led the JIC to national prominence. After leaving JIC in 2000, she ran her own public relations firm, from which she retired in 2009.
After college, Lynn settled in the New York City neighborhood of Chelsea, where she lived happily on a tree-lined street in the same cozy apartment for over 40 years. Not long after she arrived in New York, she met her life partner, the late Rick Carrier. Over the course of several decades together, they lovingly supported each other's many varied and exciting projects. To her nieces, nephews, brothers, and sister, Lynn was the perfect hostess and tour guide in her beloved city: she loved taking them to shows, museums, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. Visiting Aunt Lynn in New York City never failed to be a magical experience.
Lynn was an active participant at the Chelsea Community Church, where she promoted, helped organize, and participated in the Candlelight Christmas Service. Lynn volunteered her time at an after-school reading program for neighborhood children. She was a lifelong traveler. At the age of 63, she hiked across England along Hadrian's Wall Path; at 73, she camped in the mountains of British Columbia with family. Those who know Lynn will remember her as a vibrant, energetic lady who brightened a room and enlivened every occasion.
Lynn will be missed by her loving sister and brothers, Katherine D. "Kate” Ramsey, Charles E. "Ted" Ramsey Jr. (Marguerite), and John S. Ramsey (Carol Ann). Her dear nieces and nephews will never forget her and the joy she brought to their lives: Charles E. "Chuck" Ramsey (Lesley), Keith F. Ramsey, Stephen A. Ramsey (Joanna), Marguerite E. "Meg" Ramsey, Jennifer E. Carr, and Lucy Carr Banish(Todd), as well as several great-nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 11:30 AM at the Valley Forge Memorial Garden Cemetery, 352 S Gulph Rd, King of Prussia, PA 19406
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Lynn's name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
