Madeline T. Bodalski (nee Fay), age 98, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 7, 2023. Beloved daughter of the late Michael and Madeline (nee Hughes) Fay.
Madeline is survived by her adoring children: Gerard Bodalski, Joseph Bodalski (Cindy), John Bodalski, Susan Bodalski (Joe Gengenbach), and Ann Bodalski; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; Brother-in-law, John Dowds.
Madeline was predeceased by her loving husband, Stanley Bodalski; children, Mary Ann Boyle (Patrick), Regina Mettler (Bert), and Madeline and Stanley’s “Angel Babies” Elizabeth, Teresa, and Francis. She was also predeceased by her siblings Mary Dorsam, James Fay, and Regina Dowds; sisters-in-law, Joan Fay, Anna Mulgrew, and Theresa Pipe; brothers- in-law, John Dorsam, Robert Mulgrew, and Richard Pipe.
Madeline, a native of North Philadelphia, graduated from Hallahan High School, where she was on the debate team; And attended Philadelphia General Hospital (PGH). Mom received her RN degree from the Defense Department during WWII. After raising her family, mom went back to work at Haverford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as the Director of Nursing (DON). Madeline married Stanley Bodalski in 1949 where she lived a full life always surrounded by her loving family. She was very active at Sacred Heart Parish; deeply devoted to our Blessed Mother, the Rosary, prayer, and daily mass.
Mom was the cryptogram queen, she was a great bridge player and loved putting jigsaw puzzles together. She was known for being a fantastic cook, most especially for her chicken divan on Christmas Eve. When going out for dinner, mom ordered liver and onions. Madeline was a “great debater”, was the Treasurer of Hilltop Civic Association, and a Den Mother for the cub scouts.

Family and friends are invited to Madeline’s viewing on Thursday, October 12th from 9:15am to 10:20am with a funeral mass to follow at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Church, 105 Wilson Ave, Havertown, PA. Interment at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, 1600 Sproul Road, Springfield, PA.
