Marc Allen Kurtz, Sr. passed away on January 1, 2023, surrounded by his family. Marc was born on September 5, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA. He was the son of the late Leonard and Ethel (nee Reilly) Kurtz. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, children Jacqueline (Alan) Mendenhall, Marc Jr., and Kristen (Jet) Kurtz, as well as his grandchildren David DeHope, Madison and Harry Mendenhall, brother Kenneth Kurtz, and was predeceased by his brother Steven Kurtz.
Marc graduated from Interboro High School in 1966, and enlisted in the United States Navy. He served our country in the Vietnam War. After his discharge he attended DCCC and received his Associates Degree in Business.
Marc was never a stranger to hard work. In the early years of his marriage, he worked several jobs in order to keep the family housed, clothed and fed. He retired from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, and then continued to work in a different capacity in the beverage industry.
Marc loved the outdoors. He took his family on many camping trips, all of which have stories that still make everyone laugh. He made many lifetime friendships through various adventures with the Boy Scouts. His trip to Philmont with friends from the troop was something he was very proud of. He loved golfing, bike riding, traveling, and cooking. He was an amazing cook/chef and wine enthusiast. He could take basic ingredients from the pantry and make them into a gourmet meal.
The house was always filled with music. Music from all genres. Classical, jazz, swing, rock; you name it, he played it.
Football was also top on Marc’s list. Well before the season started, Marc was researching teams, and players, making lists and getting ready for his Fantasy Football teams. When the season started, he was in front of the TV watching a game, phone in hand tracking everyone’s progress. His team was the Saints, and he stuck by them whether they were winning or losing. When the season was finished, he spent many evenings looking for the best movie ever, and more often than not he could be heard quoting lines from any number of the classics.
Marc’s ability to find humor and a bright side to nearly any situation, along with his passion for family, and friends will continue to live in the hearts and souls of those who knew and loved him.
Relatives and Friends are invited to his Visitation on January 20, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at: The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382, followed by his Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM. Interment is private.
