Margaret Louise ("Mimi") Derby

Margaret Louise Derby “Peggy/Mimi”, 81 years old, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family June 3rd, 2023.

Mimi was a bright light and constant optimist…always with a great smile for all who knew her….and those that didn’t as well. Peggy was born on September 22, 1941 in New Haven Connecticut. She was raised by her mother and father Pasquale and Stella Salvatore (nee Marone). Peggy was the loving wife to the late James G. Derby (high school sweetheart and love of her life) in October 1960.

Mimi is survived by her children, Karen (Rob) Orcutt, James J. Derby, and Colleen (John) Iezzi (nee Derby-Peck); her siblings, Leonard Salvatore, Louis Salvatore, Patricia Cruz, and Christine Hazel; her adoring grandchildren, Rachel, Lauren, Andrew, and Melanie and many, many nieces and nephews.

Peggy was a retired payroll professional. She worked for Janney Montgomery Scott for 32 years. She was also a chairperson for the United Way. Mimi loved TV. She also loved traveling, dancing, music, Martinis, animals, puzzles, hot dogs, lobster and Jeopardy.

Relatives and friends are invited to services on Saturday June 17th at 11:00. Services will be held at St. Thomas of Villanova, 1229 E. Lancaster Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010 · The family requests that everyone attending please wear colorful outfits to celebrate the life of this woman full of color and light. Oh and ladies don’t forget your lipstick.
