Margaret M. Fallis (nee Durkin), age 88, of Newtown Square, PA, passed away on May 15, 2014. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Ellen Durkin (nee Tyrrell). She attended Corpus Christi Catholic School, John W. Hallahan High School and the Coombs College of Music.
In her early years, she was a mezzo soprano for the band associated with the Robert W. Ernest Artisan Memorial Post in Philadelphia. She was also a pianist, vocalist and neighborhood music, voice and elocution teacher. She also made singing appearances on local television stations. She was employed as a secretary for the John H. Gilliam Agency, an insurance company located in Bala Cynwyd. She retired in 1981.
While a senior volunteer at the Lawrence Park Adult Day Services Center in Broomall, PA, she was recognized for her work with Alzheimer's patients in music therapy and in recovering their ability to speak.
Peg was a longtime member of St. Anastasia Parish in Newtown Square, PA where she served for several years as President of the Legion of Mary.
Peg was predeceased by her husbands Alan J. (Bud) Bloh and James F. (Jim) Fallis. She is survived by her son Alan Michael Bloh, her brothers-in-law Joseph C. Bloh and Rev. John Bloh, and many nieces and nephews of the Bloh, Fallis, Brogan, Colgan, Durkin, McHugh, Hartigan, Lawlor and Landry families.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Tuesday, May 27, 2014 9:45-10:30 AM St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square and to her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
