Margaret Gaffney

Margaret J. Gaffney (nee McDowell), age 86, of Newtown Square, PA, formerly of Overbrook, West Philadelphia, passed away on June 29, 2021.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Josephine (nee Nolan) Landsidel.

Margaret was the beloved wife of Joseph J. Gaffney for 67 years; the loving mother of Joseph F. Gaffney (Kay), Michael T. Gaffney (Mary), Margaret J. Messa (Raymond), Thomas W. Gaffney, Robert P. Gaffney (Karen), Patricia A. Gaffney, and James P. Gaffney (Kristin).   She was the devoted grandmother of 20 and great-grandmother of 8, with one-on-the-way.  She was predeceased by her siblings, John McDowell, Joseph McDowell and Charlotte Hughes.

Margaret was a loving wife and homemaker – her family was her whole life and every new member of the family was welcomed with loving arms. She was an avid golfer for 20 years, both here at Edgmont Country Club and in Ft. Myers Beach, FL.  She loved life and her sister-in-laws, as well as her many special childhood friends and ones throughout her life.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing, Thursday, July 8, 2021, 9:00 – 10:30 AM at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA  19073, followed by her Funeral Mass, 10:30 AM.  Interment Calvary Cemetery, W. Conshohocken, PA.
