Margaret Mary Brennan

August 25, 1947 — August 1, 2024

It is with great sorrow that we announce that Margaret Mary “Peggy” Brennan (nee Dearing) of Drexel Hill PA passed away peacefully at Bryn Mawr Hospital on August 1, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Peggy was the beloved mother of five: Rachel Brennan Tirello of Jacksonville FL; Daniel Michael Patrick Brennan and Timothy Paul Laurence Brennan of St. Augustine FL, Stephen Vincent Brennan of Kailua HI, and the late Joshua Joseph Brennan of Ocean City NJ. “Nana” was also the grandmother of five: Solana and Noelani Brennan of Kailua HI; Grace Brennan of St. Augustine FL, Jeremy Brennan of Marmora NJ and Margaret Tirello of Jacksonville FL. She is also survived by her brothers Patrick and Daniel Dearing of Drexel Hill, and their families.

Born August 25, 1947, Peggy was the daughter of the late Daniel Charles Dearing and Margaret Marie Dearing (nee Dougher). She attended Archbishop Prendergast High School, an all-girl Catholic institution in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia. A lifelong devout Catholic who served as a Sunday School/CCD teacher and singer in the church choir, Peggy’s faith was a cornerstone of her life.

Peggy was married to Stephen Michael Brennan in 1968 and lived in Barstow CA; Springfield PA, Ocean City, NJ, Petersburg, NJ and Drexel Hill and Media PA. In her later years she frequently traveled to Hawaii and Florida.

In addition to being a mother of five, Peggy pursued higher education and was a dental assistant, a certified nursing assistant and a substitute teacher at Upper Township Elementary School. She spent much of her time volunteering, raising funds for various charities, and dedicating her time to her children’s activities as the ultimate soccer mom. She loved to help people and was known for her kindness and bright, positive spirit. She never complained or criticized. Remarkably, she was a two-time cancer survivor.

Peggy will be remembered by all who knew her as a wonderful friend, great listener and a strong, generous and selfless person. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and unwavering faith. An amazing mother and gentle soul, Peggy’s spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will forever be loved.

Peggy’s children cherish fond memories of her at the beach and boardwalk in Ocean City New Jersey, trips to Cape May County Zoo, shopping, snorkeling in Maui HI, enjoying meals she cooked, many Christmas and Thanksgiving Holidays, and birthdays, which she always made special.

A family service to honor Peggy’s memory will be held next year in Ocean City N.J. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Margaret’s name to Horizon House at www.hhinc.com as a testament to her generosity and commitment to helping others. May she rest in eternal peace.
