Margaret M. “Peggy” McMullan (nee Roadfuss), age 85, a long-time resident of the Briarcliffe section of Glenolden, PA, passed away on May 19, 2023.
Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1938, Margaret was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (nee Long) Roadfuss.
Peggy was the beloved wife of the late Charles F. (Chico) McMullan; loving mother of Terry Weaver (Mark), John McMullan (Karen), and James McMullan (Megan); loving grandmother of Colin, Julia, John, Conor, and Maeve.
Peggy earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. She then went on to work at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital for many years as an emergency room nurse, operating room nurse and floor nurse. During her time at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, she also taught at the Nursing School. After taking time off to raise her children, Peggy returned to nursing working at multiple long-term care facilities including many years as the Director of Nursing at the former Integrated Health Systems (now Broomall Nursing and Rehab) and at Martins Run. She was passionate about nursing and was committed to providing the highest level of care to patients.
Peggy was committed to her family and her grandchildren brought her so much joy. She was an unofficial weather news reporter and was known for providing weather forecasts for areas her children were traveling. Peggy enjoyed traveling including two trips to Europe, but her favorite place was Long Beach Island, NJ, where she met her husband and later enjoyed many great years with her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed continuing to educate herself. Peggy was an Eagles (or as she said Eggles) and Phillies fan. She had great stories about watching Eagles games played at Franklin Field from her view at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. It brought her great relief to watch the Eagles win the 2017 Superbowl.
