Margaret O'Malley

September 8, 1918 — December 13, 2016

Margaret "Sis" O'Malley, formerly of Philadelphia and Sea Isle City, NJ., passed away on December 13, 2016 in San Diego, CA. She was 98 years of age.

Born in Philadelphia in 1918, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Coll and Catherine Raftery Coll. Margaret, or "Sis", as everyone called her, truly enjoyed being with the people she loved, be it in her home in Philly, Sea Isle City, at the racetracks in Atlantic City and Del Mar , CA, or in cities across the USA and Europe where her grandchildren and great grandchildren lived. It wasn't the destination that mattered, it was the people that mattered!

Sis was the beloved wife of two husbands, the late Charlie O'Malley and the late Chas O'Malley and the step-sister of the late Walter Fee. She was the loving mother of James J. O'Malley and Rose O'Malley Gill. Jim's wife , Ann, was like her second daughter. Sis treasured her five grandchildren, Jim & Ann's Sharon Ainsworth, James M. O'Malley & Melissa O'Malley and Rose's Daniel and Michael Gill and her six wonderful great-grandchildren, Sara Ainsworth, Harrison Ainsworth, Olivia Ainsworth , Henry Ainsworth, all children of Brian and Sharon Ainsworth, and Joseph O'Malley and Vivian O'Malley, children of Lisa and Jim O'Malley. Sis would often say " they are fine young people you can be proud of "! Her Catholic faith and family were the most important parts of her life.

In the past couple of years Rose became an 'intensive' care giver to our Mom . It was a task she took on with love and caring and, though not easy or particularly appreciated, found joy in it. Her reward will be in Heaven.

Relatives and friends are invited to Sis' Visitation, 10-11am, and Mass, 11am, on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Media, PA., followed by interment at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery in Springfield , PA.

All the family and friends will gather for a Luncheon at the Lamb Tavern following the interment to celebrate Sis' long and amazing life!

In lieu of flowers, you may wish to make a contribution to the Margaret O'Malley Memorial Fund established at: St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School,

3131 El Dorado Blvd., Houston, TX 77059, where the Middle School students and their teacher , Mrs. Merri Morales, have been praying daily for Sis and sending her Mass cards, B-Day cards and gifts for the past two years. God Bless them .
