Margaret Mary Rydesky, 69 years of age, of Newtown Square, passed away April 2, 2022. Margaret was a loving wife, daughter, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years Joseph, her children Ted (Carrie) Rydesky and Rich (Adriana) Rydesky. Loving Grandmother (Nanny) of Marcy, Teddy, Sammy, Aubrey, and Logan. She is also survived by her mother, Therese Ashworth as well as her siblings: Therese (Bob) Hartnett, Kit (Bud) Tosti, Rita (Michael) Pearson, Anne (Duke) Callahan, Richard (Kate) Ashworth and Mary Jo (Scott) McClelland, and many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Mom had an ability to find the beauty in everything - as was evidenced by the countless crafts that she did with her grandchildren at ‘Nanny camp’ or while taking a walk on the beach with her family. Mom loved children and her goal was to go as overboard as possible in celebrating all holidays - from Christmas and gifts to Easter and Egg Hunts to the annual treasure hunt – the grandest of all in Brigantine last July. Whether it was setting up the luminaries, organizing caroling, or setting up the haunted house for her kids, and then grandkids, she brought joy to everyone.
Mom was an extremely hard worker - caretaking for her husband in the last 7 years while working 50 hour work weeks for Lockwood Financial Services. She was an accomplished basketball player, having won a Philadelphia Catholic League Championship for Cardinal O’Hara in 1969. Mom’s selflessness shone even in her final days as she continued to focus on dad’s health and care while battling breast cancer.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation 10-11 AM Saturday, April 9, 2022 at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 AM. Interment private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mar’s name can be made to the Flynn Foundation to help fund a fellowship for oncology nurses - the likes of whom cared so beautifully for mom as she battled in her final weeks. Donations and more information can be found at: https://sdfondp.com/donate/
