Margaret V. Warwick

April 13, 1949 — November 15, 2024

Havertown

Margaret V. “Margo” Warwick (née Varzaly), 75, of Havertown, PA, passed away on November 15, 2024 after a courageous five year battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Born in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank P. and Margaret B. (Budjack) Varzaly.

She attended Cathedral High School in Scranton and in 1971, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. While completing her degree, she met Robert Warwick, Jr., and they married in 1972. She worked as a pharmacist in Indiana while Rob completed his Ph.D. at Purdue University and later moved to Chicago, IL where she continued working as a pharmacist while Rob taught at the University of Illinois, Chicago.

After the birth of her daughters in Elmhurst, IL, they moved to their home in Havertown, PA, where they raised their girls and lived together for 48 years. Margo returned to work as a pharmacist, this time working in long term care pharmacies, traveling around the tri-state area for Geriatric Pharmacy Systems. Her incredible work ethic and love of the job inspired her to start her own pharmacy company, Pharmacy Partners, Inc., in 1997. In 2005, she sold her company and retired so that she could fully enjoy time with her family and friends.

Margo loved and supported her family unconditionally and was generous to a fault. She was the host of many holiday celebrations and pool parties and took great pride in celebrating family accomplishments. After her retirement, she and Rob traveled all over the United States, especially enjoying the trips where they could see a concert or discover a new restaurant or wine. They also spent many winter weeks at their home in Florida and she loved these escapes - hosting old friends, making new friends, becoming regulars at local restaurants, attending concerts, and exploring nature preserves. She loved bluegrass music and attended many festivals over the years, sitting outside in all kinds of weather to see the groups that she and Rob loved. She adopted many cats during her lifetime who gave her great joy, especially Baby and Socks, who were a great comfort to her during her illness.

She was a caregiver for many family members, including her husband Rob, who was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer just before she received her own cancer diagnosis in 2019. Her love and resilience throughout Rob’s illness and her own was truly extraordinary, and she was an exceptional role model to her own daughters.

Margo was the beloved wife of the late Robert O. Warwick, Jr.; loving mother of Jennifer Bazeley (Joseph) and Devon Mongiello (Joseph); devoted grandmother of Aidan O’Connell; dear sister-in-law of Janet Varzaly (late Paul); loving aunt of nieces and nephew. She was predeceased by her siblings; Mary Lou Varzaly and Paul M. Varzaly.

Her family would like to thank her relatives and friends who provided so much comfort and support, as well as the many wonderful caregivers, medical staff, and nurses who cared for her during her illness.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082 and to her Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Thursday, November 21, 2024 at St. Bernadette of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1035 Turner Ave, Drexel Hill, PA 19026.
