Margaret Warfield Hoopes Wolcott, cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed into Heaven on January 23, 2025.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert (Bob), two sons, Douglas and Christopher, sister, Louise Harrity, and brother, Albert Hoopes, Jr. She is survived by daughters Allyn Greeney (Robert), Anne Hillegass (Richard), beloved granddaughter, Margaret Milburn (Robert), step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Growing up on a dairy farm in Chester County Mom developed a love for all kinds of animals which later led her to serve for many years on the Docent Council of the Philadelphia Zoo. She also volunteered at the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair as a member of the Women's Board of the Bryn Mawr Hospital.
Mom loved horticulture, was an avid gardener and a faithful supporter of Jenkins Arboretum, McKee Gardens in Vero Beach, and The Nature Conservancy. As an active member of St David's Church she helped establish the memorial gardens on the church grounds.
Mom was an excellent Bridge player and loved needlepoint and decoupage. She traveled extensively with Bob, enjoyed summers in Beach Haven, Squam Lake, and more recently in the Poconos with some of her great-grandchildren. Mom had a full life made richer in her later years as her understanding grew of the promise of John 3:16. Believing the simple gospel message that Jesus Christ had died for her, Mom asked the Lord Jesus to forgive her sins and be her Savior. Because of her childlike faith in Jesus's death and resurrection for her, Mom closed her eyes in this world and opened them in Heaven.
Mom, we love you and will miss your beautiful smile, your kindness, your cheerfulness even as the years crept up on you. We know you loved us all. But we will see you again. So we will not say "good-bye" but "See you later..."
Burial will be private. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday February 22, 2025 at St David's Episcopal Church at 11:00AM
