Maria M. Naugle

May 18, 1937 — November 30, 2022

Newtown Square

Maria M. Naugle (née Theis), age 85, of Newtown Square, PA, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Born in 1938 in Astoria, NY, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Maria Magdalene (née Tackenberg) Theis.

Growing up, Maria and her family enjoyed trips to Germany, especially visits with extended family in the city of Wuppertal.  Maria earned her Associate’s Degree in Secretarial Science from Green Mountain College in Vermont, where she met her future husband, Randy Naugle.

After Maria and Randy were married, they settled in Whippany, NJ, which became the place where they raised their family. Maria was very involved in her children’s school activities and served as a chaperone for many school trips. She became part of a group that traded leadership duties among the various Boy and Girl Scout troops. She was also an accomplished pianist and seamstress.

Maria was very active in her Presbyterian church where she was a member of the choir and served as an Elder. She also was a member of the Hanover Township Library Board.

Maria enjoyed cooking for and entertaining family and friends, as well as playing sports and watching her favorite sports teams.  She and her family loved to frequent museums and historical places in the New York City and Philadelphia areas, as well as trips to Ocean Park, ME in the summertime.  Maria also enjoyed travel to Europe and in the US, especially visits to the Carolinas.

But one of her biggest joys was spending times with her grandchildren and watching them as they grew up.  She especially liked playing Santa Claus at Christmas Time.

Maria’s employment included working at Drew University in the athletic department and then as an executive administrative assistant for Bell Labs and Lucent Technologies.

Maria especially loved dogs which along with other pets were an integral part of the family.  Her caring efforts also included rescues of many feathered friends.

Maria was an amazing person who will truly be missed by all.

Maria was the beloved wife of the late E. Randolph “Randy” Naugle; the loving mother of William Randolph Naugle and Cheryl Ann Stipa (John); devoted grandmother of Sean R. Stipa, Timothy A. Stipa, Kelly A. Stipa, Allison R. Stipa, Ryan Naugle, and Juliette Naugle.  She is also survived by her dear sister, Trudy Ebert (Phil).

Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service, Friday, December 9, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. Giles Chapel located in Restland Memorial Park, 77 Deforest Avenue, East Hanover, NJ  07936, followed by inurnment in Restland Memorial Park.
