Marian L. Moran, 74, of Media, PA, formerly of Drexel Hill, PA, and Cherry Hill, NJ, passed away December 1, 2023.
Born October 12, 1949 in Teaneck, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Katherine (nee McCormick) Laurie.
Upon graduating from Cherry Hill High School, Marian earned her nursing degree at Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing. Marian spent the majority of her nursing career giving heartfelt and gentle care to the children at Rose Tree Media Elementary School as their school nurse for many years.
Marian had a tremendous love of God, her family and Country. She exemplified servant leadership. She was very active in the Catholic Church throughout her life at the local parishes of both St. Bernadette and St. Mary Magdalene as well as St. Maximillian Kolbe in Pocono Pines. She served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, Pre Cana member, CYO leader, and brought comfort to those at Haverford State Hospital.
Marian served as a member of the Veteran Affairs Voluntary Service Committee and also as a Judge of Elections and a Republican Party Committee woman of Middletown Township. Notably she was the founder and served as the first president of the Philadelphia Chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America where she initiated many programs to support people in military uniform and their families. This local Blue Star Mom’s group has grown immensely and thrived under her compassionate care.
When she was not busy with acts of service, you could find her playing in the pool with her grandchildren, spoiling her dog, navigating a sailboat in the Caribbean, copiloting an airplane with her husband, or as the loudest spectator at one of her family’s sporting events. Marian was a talented artist who specialized in folk art paintings. She donated much of her work to charities for fundraising. Above all, Marian’s happy place was Lake Naomi in the summertime relaxing by the pool or at the beach, going antiquing, playing bunco and having luncheons with her dear friends. She was known to be feisty, sassy, and fierce with a wicked sense of humor. You always knew when Marian Moran was in the room.
Marian was the beloved wife of William J. Moran; loving mother of Colleen Carboni (Brian), William Moran, Jr. (Chrissie), Kathleen Becker (Tripp), and Kevin Moran (Allaire); adoring grandmother of Mia Carboni, Damon Carboni, Ava Carboni, Ryan Moran, Kirsten Moran, Lauren Moran, Owen Becker, Aiden Becker, and Collin Becker; and dear sister of Kathleen Phillips (Michael) and Genevieve Bernal (Gil).
