Marianne Frawley

February 23, 1929 — December 13, 2024

Mount Laurel, NJ

Marianne Frawley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and family matriarch, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday morning, December 13, 2024, at the age of 95. She was the daughter of the late Karl and Maria Harsch (nee Rank). She is predeceased by her loving husband of over 58 years Cornelius Frawley, and survived by her son Thomas and his wife Patricia of Berwyn, PA, son Ronald and his wife Saundra of Huntersville, NC, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three first cousins, and multiple nieces and nephews.

Marianne Frawley (nee Marianne Harsch) was born February 23, 1929 in Neuhausen auf der Filder, Baden-Wurtemburg, Germany. Her parents had met and married in New York, but returned to Germany for Marianne’s birth, then returned to West New York, New Jersey where they lived until Marianne’s mother Maria fell ill and died in 1933. In accordance with her mother’s wishes, Marianne was left in the care of her maternal grandparents and aunts in Germany, where she remained until after the Second World War.

Marianne emigrated to the United States in 1949 with the sponsorship of her aunt Alwine and uncle Ernst. She worked in New York as a waitress and then as a nanny, learning English along the way. In 1954 in Central Park, she met her future husband, Cornelius “Con” Frawley, whom she married in 1955. They lived in Teaneck, New Jersey, and were soon joined by Con’s son Ron and in 1957 by the birth of Marianne and Con’s son Tom.

Marianne and Cornelius moved to Mt Laurel, New Jersey when Con retired in 1983. He returned to God on December 6, 2013 at age 92. Marianne developed dementia in late 2022, and since then was cared for first by Tom and Patty, later by a live-in caregiver, and for her final three months in assisted living.

Marianne was thoughtful and caring, and loyal and hard-working. She has returned to God, to rejoin her late husband, and mother, and all those who loved her and went before her.
