Marie R. O'Neill (nee Ryan), born on November 11, 1931 in Philadelphia to the late George Ryan and Katharine Halterman Ryan, passed away on September 4, 2015. Marie was a graduate of Little Flower High School in Philadelphia. Marie and her family lived with her beloved Oma, Katharine Halterman, on Hunting Park Avenue, Philadelphia. Marie was very proud of both her Irish and German roots.
She worked for the Fairmount Parks Commission for several years.
She was introduced to Arthur O'Neill by his sister, Mary O'Neill, whom she married on September 10, 1960, with a reception at The Rittenhouse. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage.
They lived in Staten Island for three years, while Arthur worked for the IRS in Manhattan. Their daughters, Marie and Katharine, were born in NY.
They returned to the Philadelphia area in 1964, lived in Rosemont, settling on Shirley Circle in Narberth. In 1975, they moved to St. Davids, PA.
Marie and Arthur were very involved with St. Katharine of Siena Church in Wayne. Marie spent many hours volunteering for the Lankenau Hospital Auxiliary, and with Meals on Wheels. She also worked as the Director of the Upper MLMOW for many years and had many friends at MLMOW.
Following the death of her husband in 2014, Marie relocated to Maine to be near her daughter, Katharine, Marie always was very much a lady, she kept a beautiful home and entertained with flair. Her family meant the world to her.
She is survived by her daughter, Marie of Stamford, CT and her husband Stephen Davis, her children Wallis and Arthur Perry; daughter, Katharine of Portland, ME and her husband Paul Guerin and their son William; son, Stephen of San Jose, CA and wife Alexis and their children Riley and Shane,
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur O'Neill, her son, Arthur O'Neill, Jr. and her only brother, Michael Ryan.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Monday, September 21, 2015 9:00-9:50 AM St. Katharine of Siena Church, Lancaster and Aberdeen Avenue, Wayne, PA and to her Memorial Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
