Marie A. Steinmetz (nee Vannicolo), age 52, of Newtown Square, PA, passed away on September 12, 2015. Born in Havertown, PA, she was the daughter of Louis J., Jr. and Louise J. Vannicolo (nee Nardi).
Marie attended Oakmont Elementary School, Haverford Middle School and was a 1981 graduate of Haverford High School. While in high school, she sang the "Alleluia Chorus" and worked as a Nurse's Aide.
She was employed with Union Mutual Insurance Company from 1981-1986, Biddle and Company from 1986-1991, Progressive Businss Publications from 1992-2006 and Wayne Presbyterian Church from 2006-2015. While at Wayne Presbyterian Church, she loved greeting the children each day at the Nursery School. She said that the children "brightened her day".
She was engaged to Charles Steinmetz in January, 1987, married on May 7, 1988 at St. Denis Church in Havertown, and honeymooned in California. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in 2013. She loved vacationing in Ocean City, MD with her family, flowers and the springtime and antique shopping in the countryside.
In 2006, Marie was diagnosed with breast cancer and endured chemotherapy and radiation treatments. In 2009, she helped raise over $4000.00 for breast cancer research through St. Anastasia CYO Football.
In May, 2013, she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. She battled and endured numerous chemotherapy treatments and transfusions for over two years. She lived to celebrate her daughter's 21st birthday and passed away six days later.
In addition to her parents, Marie is survived by her husband Charles W. "Chuck" Steinmetz, her daughter Alicia K., her son Brian T., her brothers Louis J. Vannicolo, III (Pauline) and Michael J. Vannicola (Loyah), her nephew Jonathan Vannicolo, and her nieces Laina, Karah, Carina and Stephanie Vannicolo.

Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.
