Marilyn A. Bell

February 17, 1938 – January 16, 2025

Marilyn A. Bell, born on February 17, 1938, in Quincy, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, in Pocopson, Chester County, PA. Formerly a long-time resident of Havertown, PA, Marilyn lived a full life punctuated by a love for adventure, a passion for performing, pride for her Irish heritage, and kindness for her friends, family, and animals, especially dogs and her beloved rabbits.

Marilyn attended St. Laurence School in Upper Darby and graduated from West Catholic High School in Philadelphia. She put herself through college while working part-time and in 1973 earned her B.S. in Business Administration from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, specializing in Finance. Marilyn began her long and successful finance career at General Electric, working in GE's RESD, Re-entry and Environmental Systems Division. For two years, she worked at Cape Canaveral, FL, during the early years of the NASA space program. Marilyn went on to work at Conrail for 23 years, building many life-long friendships.

Marilyn's passion was music. Her grandnephews affectionately nicknamed her "La La" for her singing. A gifted soprano, Marilyn performed with the Rose Valley Chorus, Sacred Heart Church Choir, The Savoy, and The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Chester County. She found joy in sharing her talent and cherished her time on stage.

Her adventurous spirit led her to travel to many countries and continents, and to embrace outdoor pursuits. Marilyn was active in the Philadelphia Sailing Club and the Mainline Ski Club. Her love of cycling began as a child on the Ocean City Boardwalk and continued throughout her life, even trying mountain biking. She logged many miles biking through the shore towns while summering in Sea Isle City, her happy place. She relished the Jersey shore, enjoying the ocean breeze, sand, and surf.

Marilyn lived with enthusiasm, bringing fun to every setting she encountered. Over the years, she built cherished friendships, forging some of her closest bonds during her later years.

Predeceased by her parents, Daniel A. Bell Sr. and Estelle V. Bell (née McCunney) of Drexel Hill, PA, her brother, Daniel A. Bell Jr. and her sister-in-law Dianne C. Bell (nee Walters), of Malvern, PA, she is survived by her loving niece, Kristin Heisey (nee Bell), Kristin's husband, Jon, and their sons Zachary and JD to whom Marilyn was a proud great-aunt and whose lives brought her endless joy and pride.

Marilyn's humor, musicality, and adventurous spirit always made an impression. Her fun-loving nature will live on with those who knew her best.
