Marjorie S. Lishon

February 3, 1935 — November 9, 2023

Marjorie S. Lishon, 88, of Chester Springs, PA, formerly of Downingtown, PA, passed away surrounded by loved ones on November 9th, 2023. Born February 3, 1935 in Lexington, VA, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Gussie Mable (Irving) Swisher and wife of Lester Jackson Lishon III (“Jack”).

Those closest to her heart knew her fondly as “GG” (short for Gorgeous Grandmother). Above any other life accomplishment, award, achievement or accolade she will be forever known for her gentle spirit and open heart. A model for kindness to each other and to all Earth’s creatures. GG loved and cared to all who surrounded her.

Although small in stature, she was always the first person there to provide support and guidance in any time of need. Among the many instances, most notably, her commitment to learning how to fly her husband Jack’s plane in case of an emergency. It sure came in handy during an emergency beach landing in North Carolina while navigating unexpected hurricane weather. Needless to say, GG was the copilot everyone wanted in their life. No matter the storm, she would weather it alongside you.

Her lifelong commitment to kindness and community was shaped by her countless worldly adventures with Jack. If she wasn’t serving up her sweet southern smile internationally, she was home volunteering at the Chester County Early Childhood Development Center in West Chester, PA- a place she spent many years supporting youth in the local community. Although a traditionally educated woman, no amount of schooling can teach the kindness and respect she showed to everyone she encountered- no matter their age, race, gender, ability, creed, difference, etc. Love is a universal language and everyone agrees GG spoke it fluently and gave it away freely to all those that surrounded her.

Marjorie was the beloved mother of Lester J. Lishon, IV (Cheryl), and Kimberly D. Lishon; adoring grandmother of Danyelle Onda (Joseph), Kerry Lishon, Ryan Lishon, Brittney Lishon; proud great-grandmother of Kendall Lishon and Vivian Onda; and dear sister of Fred Swisher (Jean).
