Martha Farrelly (nee Scanlon), age 77, of Bryn Mawr, PA, passed away on March 6, 2022. Born in Skehana, County Galway, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Delia Scanlon (nee Nolan).
In her teenage years, Martha followed her older sisters to Philadelphia where she eventually met her husband, Peter, and together they started their family.
Martha was a longtime parishioner at Our Mother of Good Counsel Parish where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered with the Interfaith Hospitality Network serving the homeless. Additionally, Martha remained connected to her Irish heritage while being a longtime member of the Cavan Society of Philadelphia.
Her greatest pleasure came from spending time with her friends and family, especially her four grandchildren. Martha is now reunited with her husband, Peter and son, Pete.
Martha is survived by her loving daughters, Patricia Farrelly and Marie McGuire, her son-in-law, Joe McGuire, her grandchildren Kiarra, Aaron, Aidan and Jacob and her siblings: Mary Sheridan, Elsie Scanlon, Teresa Finn, Gretta Scanlon, Martin Scanlon, Gerry Scanlon, and Pauline Rochford. She was predeceased by her siblings PJ Scanlon, Peggy Gallagher and Christina J. Farrelly.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Monday, March 14, 2022 5:00-7:00 PM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike (cor. Lynn Blvd.), Upper Darby, PA (610) 449-0300 and Tuesday, March 15, 2022 10:00-10:45 AM at Our Mother of Good Counsel Church, 31 Pennswood Road, Bryn Mawr, PA, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
