Mary T. Becker

Mary T. Becker, age 86 of Upper Darby, PA, passed away surrounded by her loving family on April 9, 2025. She was the beloved daughter to the late Patrick and Catherine (nee Lyons) O’Gara.

Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, John. She was a loving mother to her children John (Lynn), Mary Alice (Michael), Joseph, and Patrick (Jennifer). Mary was an adoring grandmother to her grandchildren Victoria, Matthew, Jack, Caroline, Megan, Katie, Mallory, Brendan, Colin, and Irelynn. She is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and more. She was predeceased by her dear brother John O’Gara.

Mary was a graduate of Gwynedd Mercy High School, which helped lay her foundation in faith in God and love of family. This faith was central to her life, and was noticed by all blessed to call her a friend.

Nothing brought Mary more joy than spending precious moments with her children, especially when cheering them on at all their sporting events and her daughter’s Irish dance competitions. She continued this in her cherished role as grandmother to her 10 grandchildren, attending their games, concerts, and graduations. She vacationed with her family every summer in Sea Isle City, and always loved sitting on the deck and eating lunch at the Lobster House. 

Mary and her family are long time parishioners of St. Laurence in Upper Darby. She was an active member in her parish community, and most recently enjoyed her time at the Laurentian Seniors luncheons. Mary also enjoyed attending any event celebrating her Irish culture. Mary made many lasting friendships throughout her life and always called to check in on her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She had a special way of making those around her feel loved. 

Relatives and friends are invited to Mary’s Viewing on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA followed by her funeral mass at 11:00 AM at St. Laurence Church, 8245 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA. Interment at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
