Mary Patricia "Pat" Carey

Mary Patricia “Pat” Carey (née Shehan), age 95, of Riddle Village, formerly of Drexel Hill, PA and Newtown Square, peacefully entered eternal life on April 11, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Katherine Shehan (née Kohler). She was raised in the Overbrook section of Philadelphia, a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and a graduate of St. Leonard’s Academy. She was a longtime employee of Upper Darby Township and PA Department of Education.

She was a dedicated mother to her five children: Bernard P. Carey (Cindy), Diane Trainer (Ray), Charlene Devlin (Joe), Bob Carey (Eileen) and Suzanne Manning (Chris).  She especially loved her role as “Nannie” to her 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; predeceased by her siblings, Katherine Tucker, Elizabeth Horstman, and Lawrence J. Shehan.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing 9:30-10:30 AM Monday, April 17, 2023 at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA followed by her Funeral Mass 10:30 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
