Mary Gleason

October 5, 1931 — August 1, 2014

Mary S. "Bobby" Gleason (nee Silcox) of Paoli, PA, formerly of Havertown, PA passed away on August 1, 2014. Born in Philadelphia on October 5, 1931 she was the daughter of the late John D. Silcox, Sr. and Mary van Haagen Silcox.



Bobby was a 1949 graduate of Merion Mercy Academy where she graduated with top honors for 4 years and was voted best student. She was a 1953 graduate of Chestnut Hill College, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. She worked for 8 years as a Quality Control Chemist for Sharpe and Dohme in Philadelphia. She later worked at a Reference Librarian for 25 years with the Haverford Township Free Library in Havertown. She retired in 1994.



Bobby's special interests included knitting, reading, traveling with her husband, playing bridge with friends from college, and going to lunch with both high school and college friends. Bobby's family would like to acknowledge Sunrise Senior Living of Paoli and Neighborhood Hospice of West Chester for the exceptional care they gave her and her family.



She is survived by her husband, Francis E. Gleason, Sr. with whom she shared 57 years of marriage, her children Francis E. Gleason, Jr., and John M. (Ruth A.) Gleason, her granddaughter, Sarah J. Gleason and her siblings Patricia McHugh, Reverend John D. Silcox, Jr. and D. Howard Silcox.



Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Wednesday, August 6, 2014 10:00-10:50 AM St. Norbert Church, 50 Leopard Road, Paoli, PA followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery.



In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bobby's memory to Neighborhood Hospice, 400 E. Marshall Street, West Chester, PA 19380.
