Mary Hemphill

November 11, 1941 — February 15, 2016

Mary E. Hemphill (nee Levins), 74, of Media, PA passed peacefully on February 15, 2016 at Riddle Memorial Hospital in the arms of her loving family.



Mary was the oldest daughter of Francis X. Levins and Charlotte E. Morris. She was born on Elfreth's Alley in Philadelphia, later moving to St. Helena's Parish in Olney. She married Kenneth J. Hemphill on Halloween, 1964 and spent her life devoted to raising her five children and helping the elderly at Saint Dorothy Parish and serving as a volunteer to the women at Divine Providence Village in Marple.



She owned and operated Paoli Dairy Queen in the late 80's through 1995. She loved her grandchildren, cooking, traveling, playing tennis, spending time in Kresgeville in the Pocono mountains, Sea Isle City, NJ, as well in Pungoteague, VA where the family vacationed every year. Her selfless devotion to her family, friends and immense heart will be sorely missed.



She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, of 51 years, her sons Kenneth, Michael, Joseph, Carl (Mariana), and Brian (Becky), her brothers Francis (Elisabeth), Robert (Helen), Gerard (Barbara), Michael (Cheryle), Richard (Kathy-Stel) Levins, her sister Charlotte Wolfe (Carl) and her five grandchildren, Bria, Brett, Brandon, Katia and Xavier. She was predeceased by her father and mother as well as her brother Thomas (Theresa) Levins. She also leaves her devoted caretaker Kay Mouratidoy, who will miss Mary dearly.



Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Saturday, February 20, 2016 9:00-10:20 AM St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2400 N. Providence Road, Media, PA and to her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Interment SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.



In lieu of flowers, contributions to Divine Providence Village, 686 Old Marple Road, Springfield, PA 19064 would be appreciated.
