Mary Elizabeth (nee Radvansky) McCann passed away on August 4, 2024 at the age of 101. One of four children born to Michael and Mary (nee Kislan) Radvansky, she was raised in Philadelphia, PA. After a four year courtship, she married her high school sweetheart, James McCann, in 1943. Together they had four children - Mary, Patricia, James Jr., and John.
Mary was a homemaker until her husband's passing in 1976 when she took a position with the United States Census Bureau where she worked until she retired. During her retirement she was known for adventurous spirit and traveled with her sister Margaret to various parts of the United States and Europe - flying over the Grand Canyon, walking on a glacier, and even braving the Lehigh River when white water rafting at 80 years old.
Mary was the matriarch of her large and loving family - a devoted mother and grandmother - she often hosted family gatherings for holidays and birthdays. She also organized the annual family vacation in Avalon, NJ where her immediate and extended family enjoyed many summers together and formed lasting memories. Mary possessed the rare ability to make everyone she met feel special. Beloved by all who knew her, she will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, quick wit, and joyous spirit.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James, her daughter, Mary Keller and brothers, Joseph Radvansky and Michael Radvansky. She is survived by her children, Patricia, James, and John (Jackie), her sister, Margaret McKnight, her eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Mary’s viewing at The Knoetgen-Donohue Funeral Home, 746 Kedron Ave, Morton, PA on Saturday, August 10th from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM followed by her funeral service at 11:30 AM. Interment at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 Sproul Road, Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary’s name to a Veteran’s Association of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
